I thought more than once about that stock and viewed it daily one of a kind for sure but due too it's highly red in appearance and not Being Left handed I decided to pass, not to say I didn't have to sit on my hands as to not pull the trigger!!. They sure appeared much more red on his site. What a difference in contrast between those stocks when pictured on Jim's web site and now in your post. The one on the left is Scotts in an older style JM srock. One is a factory original next to a JM Custom. Some are of an older design next to his latest. It makes the gun extremely smooth to cock, removes a great deal of twang in the firing sequence, and the FPS consistency was increased. That rifle won't shoot any better with a kit in it. You have not got close to breaking it in. Sounds like you have already ordered a JM kit but I would leave it alone and just shoot it. I e-mailed them last night and already got a reply this morning. I have used both and the Macarri kits produce a more mellow shot cycle and from my experience their springs last longer than vortek. Given your objective, Macarri all the way.
Makes a nice gun MUCH more pleasant to shoot. Result is easier cocking, less "twang", better overall shot-cycle. True-up the cylinder, New spring with fitted guides and top-hat, seals, lube ,trigger work. My experience is that my HW guns performed best with the Maccari kits. I have used both Maccari and Vortek kits.
I am not really worried about increasing the velocity maybe gain a little. I have always wanted to try one of those tuning kits such as the Vortek or Maccari. It has about a tin and a half through it and it shoots really nice.
